PURPOSE:To enable automatic positioning of a continuous form paper, by using a continuous form paper provided with position marks at regular intervals in the longitudinal direction, and detecting the presence or absence of the position mark at a predetermined detecting position. CONSTITUTION:Printing in one line is performed by a printing head 4 while moving a head carrier 3 rightward by rotating a main shaft 5. The carrier 3 is then fed backward, and a paper-feeding shaft 5 is rotated to feed a paper by a one-line amount. After the paper is fed by a amount of M lines, it is judged whether a position mark K is detected by a detecting means 9 at a predetermined detecting position. When the position mark K is not detected, paper feeding without printing is performed until the detecting means 9 detects the mark K. As a result, blank lines are provided flowing the M printed lines, whereby a deficiency in paper feed quantity previously generated is made up.
