PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal copolyester increased in flow and improved in moisture and hydrolysis resistance, by blocking the functional groups on the molecular terminals of copolyester which exhibits anisotropy upon melting. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal copolyester is formed by blocking the functional groups on the molecular terminals of a copolyester which exhibits anisotropy upon melting with a low-molecular compound having at least one aromatic ring and an MW<=350. It is preferable that at least one compound selected from among the compounds of formulas I-V is used as the low- molecular compound to block the molecular terminals. In said formulas, R1 and R2 are each a substituent selected from among a 1-10C alkyl, -Cl, -Br, -OCH3, -NH2, vinyl, phenyl and the like, Y is a group selected from among a 1-4C alkylene, alkylidene, -O-, -S-, -CO- and the like, n is an integer of 0-2, X is a functional group selected from among aldehyde, hydroxy, carboxyl, amino glycidyl ester, isocyanate, acetoxy, carboxyalkyl ester (1-4C alkyl), and the like.
