PURPOSE:To develop a high tensile steel plate which is improved in weldability while maintaining the necessary strength by slightly increasing the contents of C and Mn in the high tensile steel plate and adding a slight ratio of V thereto. CONSTITUTION:The 80kgf/mm<2> class high tensile steel plate to be used in civil engineering and construction works, mining developments, etc., is so adjusted in components as to contain, by weight %, 0.15-0.30% C, 0.05-0.55% Si, 1.00-1.80% Mn, 0.03-0.10% V, 0.0005-0.005% B, 0.01-0.10% Al, or further at least one kind among 0.05-0.30% Cu, 0.05-0.20% Cr, and 0.03-0.10% Mo and to have >=0.30% total of 3 times the content of C and the content of V. The 80kgf/mm<2> class high tensile steel plate having the excellent weldability is produced at low cost by adding a slight amt. of V thereto and slightly increasing the contents of C and Mn without specially requiring Cr and Mo as essential components.
