PURPOSE:To obtain a color picture without color slurring by detecting the image deviation between a 1st frame and a prescribed color component picture of 2nd frame being one preceding frame and deviating the picture of other color component of the 1st frame in response to the result of detection. CONSTITUTION:The 1st frame red, blue and green component picture is stored in frame memories 18a, 18b, 18c. The picture of the 2nd frame green component being one preceding frame from the 1st frame is stored in the memory 18d. A position deviation circuit 32 deviates the picture read from the memory 18d by 3 picture elements in 8 directions (upper/lower/left/right/ oblique directions). The direction of deviation of the circuit 32 is changed sequentially and the correlation between the output picture of the circuit 32 and the picture read from the memory 18c is obtained by a correlation arithmetic circuit 34, a maximum value detector 38 and a deviation detection circuit 40 to detect the direction of deviation of the circuit at that time and the quantity of deviation. The image deviation circuits 20a, 20b use a read address obtained by adjusting the output of the circuit 40 as an original address of memories 18a, 18b to read the picture from the memories 18a, 18b and the picture read from the circuits 10a, 20b and the memory 18c is displayed on the display device 24.
