PURPOSE:To reduce vibration and noise by opening and closing the communication passage either between a cylinder and an intake pipe or between the cylinder and an exhaust pipe by a rotary valve. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust valves 9 and 10 and intake valves 11 and 12 are mounted inside a housing. A cylindrical turning valve body 21 having openings 23a-23d and a turning valve body 22 having openings 25a-25d are disposed at right angles with the moving direction of a piston 20. The cylinder 30, intake ports 11 and 12 or exhaust ports 9 and 10 are opened and closed by the valve bodies 21 and 22. The vibration and the noise generated when the valve bodies are driven may thus be reduced.
