PURPOSE:To improve the convenience and the efficiency of an electronic blackboard not only by copying pictures and writing information on a writing medium on a recording paper but also by reading the pictures and writing information painted and written on an original so as to reproduce it on the writing medium. CONSTITUTION:A white plastic sheet, for instance, is used as the writing medium 6 and the pictures and writing information can be optionally written with a writing tool such as a felt pen, etc., on the display of the medium and also can be erased. A line image sensor, for instance, is used as a picture reading means 26, which reads the picture information written in the writing medium and outputs it to a recording means 29. An original reading means 31 is what is called an image scanner and it reads the pictures and writing information and outputs it to a writing means 35. As the writing means 35 an ink jet head, for instance, is used so as to form the picture on the writing medium 6. Thus, the electronic blackboard 1 has the function of recording the picture and writing information written in the writing medium 6 on the recording paper 30 and the function of writing the picture information read in from an original 32 in the writing medium 6.
