PURPOSE:To grasp the influence of only a transmission and reception system totally by using a digital evaluation system which employs the method of the image processing of a synthetic aperture radar. CONSTITUTION:A range compression simulation device is equipped with a calibrator 1, a variable attenuator 2, a data converter 3, and a range compression evaluating device 4. A test signal applying means is applied to the calibrator 1 and variable attenuator 2 and a test signal is generated and applied to the reception system 102 of an SAR transmitter receiver 10. The data converter 3 converts a signal of a calibration or observation mode outputted by the SAR transmitter receiver 10 and supplies the signal to the range compression evaluating device 4. The range compression evaluating device 4 compares a range compression result with a predetermined logical simulation value to perform evaluation.
