PURPOSE:To carry out blow-down of filter mediums such as diatomaceous earth in a filter in a short time by blowing off said filter mediums adhered to a filter partition after discharging out the solution to be treated in a tank together with the filter mediums. CONSTITUTION:The solution to be filtered by a filter 1, for example, used electric-discharge solution, is filtered and if a filter partition 3 is clogged with diatomaceous earth, used as filter medium, an on-off valve 5 is closed, and a mixed material of the used solution in a filter chamber 11 and diatomaceous earth 13 is discharged by an on-off valve 14. Then, the on-off valve 14 is closed and on-off valves 6 and 17 are opened to feed compressed air in an air tank 9 to the inside of the filter partition 3, diatomaceous earth 13 adhered to the partition wall 3 are blown off, to be piled up on a filter cloth 10 in the form of cakes, and the processing solution impregnated in the diatomaceous earth 13 is separated by the filter cloth 10 to be recovered out of a discharge port 16. Then a door 19 is opened and the diatomaceous earth 13 in the form of lumps is taken out.
