PURPOSE:To easily read an image by illuminating selectively an image by the lighting device of the upper part of a placing table and the transmission lighting device of the lower part of a placing table. CONSTITUTION:A diffusing and reflecting plate 9 is placed on a table frame 10, a supporting member 4 is fixed to the table frame 10, and a camera 3 is attached to its horizontal supporting part 4b. Also, the lighting lamp 13 of a transmission lighting device S is installed under the diffusing and reflecting plate 9. Moreover, a lighting lamp 5 is installed to the upper part of the diffusing and reflecting plate 9, as well. When a transparent positive is placed on the diffusing and reflecting plate 9, it is illuminated by the transmission lighting device s, brought to an image pickup and displayed on a monitor display part 6. Also, at the time of illuminating a general document, it is illuminated by the lighting device 5 of the upper part, as usual. Accordingly, two lighting devices are used selectively and properly. Accordingly, since the transmission lighting device and the upper lighting device are installed, an image can be read easily.
