PURPOSE:To simplify economic calculation for welding work by providing, etc., a means to calculate the arc generating time and the operating time of a welding machine respectively based on the set welding effective length of an object to be welded and the accumulated welding speed in its inside. CONSTITUTION:A guide rail 23 is provided with respect to the fixed piping 24 to be the object to be welded and a welding head 9 is held and guided thereby and the automatic welding is performed. In an automatic welding controller 20 at this time, a storage part RAM 3 of a welding condition and a ROM 22 to store a control program are arranged with respect to a central processing unit CPU 2. The CPU sets and changes the welding condition and at the same time, reads out a set value from the RAM 3 and uses a prescribed formula to calculates the arc time and the sequence time automatically via the program of the ROM 22. The economic calculation relative to the welding work is simplified by automation by this method.
