PURPOSE:To prevent the contamination of a disk and an optical head by removing a dust contained in air in a case box by a dust removing filter arranged in an air flow caused by the revolution of the disk in the tightly closed case box. CONSTITUTION:A recording and reproducing mechanism is closed tightly by the case box constituted of a shield cover 10, a front cover 20 and a base plate 30, and at the outside of the periphery of the disk 1, a cylindrical dust removing filter (filter) 6, which has a larger outside diameter than that of the disk, is arranged and fixed on the base plate 30 through a stay 7. When the disk 1 is made revolve by a motor 3, the air flow in a radial direction is generated. Since the filter 6 is arranged in this air flow, the dust contained in the air is removed. Since the recording and reproducing mechanism and the filter 6 are arranged in the tightly closed case box, the dust in the case box decreases with the lapse of the operating time of the optical disk device, and the contamination of the disk 1 and the optical head 2 can be prevented.
