PURPOSE:To manufacture a reflection preventing film by adjusting a colloidal solution of specific magnesium fluoride to which water glass is added and performing coating and heating processes. CONSTITUTION:Magnesium acetate of 12.96g and polyvinyl alcohol of 7.5g are weighed/taken and water is added to this mixture so that the whole weight becomes 213g. This aqueous solution is much stirred. Next, hydrofluoric acid of 4.8g is weighed/taken and water is added to it so that the whole weight becomes 154.8g. The latter aqueous solution is poured into the former aqueous solution and this mixture is stirred for several tens minutes. Thus, a transparent colloidal solution of magnesium fluoride is adjusted. Next water glass (Li2O.3.5 SiO2) of 0.6g is weighed/taken and it is diluted by water so that the whole weigh becomes 20g. This solution is poured into the 20g said colloidal solution of magnesium fluoride and this mixture is much stirred. A film of prescribed thickness is formed on a glass plate by a rotational coating process of this mixed solution. When a heating process is next performed, a reflection preventing film which is too hard to be scarred can be manufactured.
