PURPOSE:To manufacture the friction plate for automatic transmission with good yield by bending a rolling material in constant width in annular shape by a guide roll and core metal roll with restraining the breadth by a ring forming machine and cutting it after correcting the out-of-roundness by a round ness jig. CONSTITUTION:The blank ring 17 of the friction plate for automatic transmis sion is formed from the rolling material 10 having the plate width equiv to the width of the ring 17 in 1.6-6.0mm. The rolling material 10 whose length of one winding part is fed into by feeding rolls 11a, 11b is formed in a ring by being pressed to a bending roll 14 with receiving the restraint in the plate width direction by a guide roll 13 and core metal roll 12. The formed rolling material 10a is cut at a position 16 on each one coil after its roundness being corrected by a roundness jig 15 and becomes the necessary ring 17. The friction plate for automatic transmission can thus be formed with good accuracy and yield from the rolling material.
