PURPOSE:To reduce generation of NOX in a gas turbine combustor having a double structure by a method wherein an air chamber communicating with a downstream side of a catalyst is arranged at an outer periphery of the downstream side of the catalyst in an inner cylinder, an amount of air for the air chamber is adjusted in response to a turbine load and then an amount of air at upstream side of the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:When a load signal 75 is inputted to a control part 73, the control part 73 may output a precombustion signal 177 and a premixing signal 79 if a turbine load is high to increase a degree of opening of a precombustion control valve 51 and a premixing control valve 57. An air adjusting signal 81 is outputted to meter a degree of opening of a flow rate adjusting valve 71, an amount of compressed air flowing from an air chamber 65 to a dilution chamber D is decreased, and an amount of air flowing from a swirring unit 49 to a precombustion chamber A and an amount of air flowing from a premixing air opening 55 to a premixing chamber B are increased. In this way, the amount of air at the upstream side of a catalyst 59 is controlled in response to a load and so generation of NOX can be decreased.
