An exchangeable terrain model is fitted to a stand with an upper frame on legs. A marking unit indicates an engagement location on the terrain model. A control is assigned to the marking unit which is fixed to a two-axes coordinate system on the frame. The marking unit is slidable along both axes and, when activated marks out a location on the terrain model at least for a limited time. The coordinate system has a first rail along which a secured rail, carrying the marking unit, slides at right angles. The control calculates the target coordinates from entered gun emplacement position, direction of fire and type of munition. A random generator changes the target coordinates within preset limits, pref. in dependence on weapon range. The random generator can stimulate uncontrollable effects, e.g. weather.
