PURPOSE:To regulate the bending amount of a supporting plate by providing a stopper means on a position separated from a specified gap to an area within the projection plane of a magnetic medium surface contacting with a magnetic head in the bending direction of the supporting plate bent by pressure. CONSTITUTION:In the recording and reproduction state a 1st supporting plate 6 is bent by required pressure with a specified extent. A 1st approximately columnar body 17 is provided while projecting integrally to a carriage 4 towards a 1st supporting plate 6 from the bottom section 4d of the carriage 4. The top 17a is positioned at a space with specific small gap against the opposite surface of a 1st supporting plate 6 with a magnetic head 5 under a bending state. The top section 18a of the 2nd approximately columnar body 18 is the same, as well. Thus, if the bending amounts of the supporting plates 6 and 10 are increased a little bit by a specific amount larger than that of the recording and reproduction state, the supporting plates 6 and 10 are abutted with the top sections 17a and 18b of columnar bodies 17 and 18 to restrict further bending.
