PURPOSE:To set the position of a cassette half after it is loaded to extremely near a rotary head drum by permitting the bottom of a lid to abut on the surface which is slidably brought into contact with a lid opening member in a procedure that a cassette holder descends, and opening the lid in an early stage. CONSTITUTION:The bottom of the lid 2 in the cassette half 1 abuts on the surface 20a which is slidably brought into contact with the lid opening member 20 and the lid opening member 20 moves. The bottom of the lid 2 slides on the surface 20a which is slidably brought into contact with the lid open member 20. At such a time, the lid 2 is set to opened. With allowance more than a distance between the rotary center of the lid open member 20 and said surface 20a, the lid 2 is opened in a position apart from the rotary head drum 4. Thus, the space between the lid 2 and the rotary head drum 4 is satisfactorily secured while the cassette half 1 descends. The space between the tip of the lid 2 and the rotary drum 4 can be shortened in a state where the cassette holder is loaded, whereby a player can be miniaturized.
