PURPOSE:To make accurate grinding and polishing with a constant jet pressure white keeping always a distance between a nozzle and a working surface in a constant length, by installing a means for adjusting a distance between the jet nozzle of working fluid and the working surface of a work piece. CONSTITUTION:Working fluid jetting out from a nozzle 18 hits a working surface and grinds and polishes the working surface of a lens 16. At this step, if the curvature of the working surface changes large, the distance between the nozzle 18 and the hole surface 6B of a fluid tank 6 changes large, then the nozzle 18 is going to be moved up to the direction opposite to the lens 16 by the reaction force of the jet pressure. However, by the action of an air cylinder 14, the nozzle 18 is moved downward and the distance between the nozzle 18 and the lens 16 is always kept in a constant length. Thus a constant jet pressure is always applied on the working surface of the lens 16, and then the working surface of the lens 16 is accurately ground and polished.
