PURPOSE:To improve the production yield of a cast slab by finding the difference between molten steel temp. in a mold and cast slab temp. just before cutting apparatus, deciding the heat cooling correction value and next executing the correction of position at the time of happening abnormality. CONSTITUTION:The thermometer 1 for the molten steel in the mold is arranged and also the cast slab thermometer 6 is arranged near the cutting apparatus. Further, a temp. correction value calculating function 12 finding the temp. correcting factor tC from temp. difference the molten steel temp. TMD and the cast slab surface temp. TS is arranged. By this mechanism, the abnormal position calculating function 14 calculates the abnormal position lE from the temp. correcting factor tC and cast slab length lR before cutting and the abnormal position correcting function 15 finds the actual cutting length, to decide the abnormal position before cutting, and the cutting is executed. In this way, as the detecting accuracy of abnormal position is improved, the yield of cast slab is improved.
