PURPOSE:To hasten the selection of an image by arranging plural recording media on the plane orthogonal to the light axis of a projection image-forming system made incident on vertically an image reading range area surface and attaining the turning together with the projection image-forming system with the light axis as a center. CONSTITUTION:An operator selects a tray, in which a desired microfiche is loaded, among P1-Pn, moves the selected tray in a direction 22 parallel to a light axis L1 and positions it to a read image surface 21. Next, the tray is rotated with the light axis L1 as a center and positions the desired microfiche to the read image surface 21. Next, the fiche carrier is moved, and a desired frame image in the microfiche is positioned to the read image surface on a light axis L2. next, the projection image-forming system is rotated to an angle together with tray groups P1-Pn and the inclination of the frame image is corrected. Next, an image reading is started.
