PURPOSE:To make skill unnecessary and to make a machining uniform when performing plural stages of machining by measuring the time required for the plural stages of machining up to the previous machining and calculating the time required for the final stage of the machining based on the time for the plural stages of machining. CONSTITUTION:An output of a position sensor 12 works on a switch 16 in a machining condition switching device 14 to switch the machining condition in turn. The switch 16 is linked with a switch 17 so as to switch in turn as well. When an electrode 1 reaches a required depth of (n-m)th stage of machining, a signal is issued from the position sensor 12 to the machining condition switching device 14 to switch the machining condition to that of a next (n-m+1)th stage of machining. The time required for the machining is measured with a machining time measurement device 19. After repeating this action for n times, the machining time is given to a machining time operation device 20 and the calculated result is sent to a machining time setting device 21. This enables automatic setting of the final machining time.
