A device for compressing and clamping untrimmed wood, combined with a timber bank, by which device the load of untrimmed wood can be tightly compressed and clamped for transport. The device incorporates hydraulically operated extensions 4, 5 inside the two poles 2, 3 of the timber bank 1. One extension 4 is provided with a compression arm 6, which can be driven horizontally onto the load and off the load. The other extension 5 is provided with a locking device 7, which pinches the compression arm 6 and thus binds the extensions 4, 5 of the poles together for compression and clamping of the load. <IMAGE>
