The new decarboxylation catalysts are characterised in that they have the formula: <IMAGE> in which each of R<1> to R<5>, which are identical or different, denotes: - a saturated or unsaturated branched or unbranched C1-C30 alkyl radical which may be connected to another radical to form a ring, - an aryl or aralkyl radical with up to 30 carbon atoms, unsubstituted or substituted by one or a number of halogen atoms and/or groups such as nitrile, nitrate, acyl or acyloxy, or R<1> solely may denote an aromatic heterocyclic ring such as a pyridyl or pyrimidinyl ring or a heteroatom substituted by one or a number of C1-C10 alkyl radicals, such as a dialkylamino radical. They are employed in particular for decarboxylating at a temperature higher than or equal to 10 DEG C an alkyl or aralkyl (thio)carbonate or a dialkyl or aralkyl carbonate in the presence of the (thio)phenolic derivative in order to obtain phenylalkyl or aralkyl (thio)ethers which are very useful intermediates for the preparation of colorants, plant-protection agents and perfumes. |
