PURPOSE:To prevent overheating caused by contact resistance at an end of a member to be heated by bringing a contact surface of an electrode member into a line contact with an end of the member to be heated and setting the contact length to a proper length according to the member to be heated. CONSTITUTION:An electrode member 130 has a nearly conical shape and a top end of the member 130 is formed into about a nearly hemi-spherical shape and abuts on an end of a steel stock 300. An electrode member 131 set on an electrode supporting member is formed into a nearly cylindrical body and an end of the member 131 is cut at a prescribed angle at both side to form a wedge-shape and to also form slant faces 131a, 131a. The face 131b is cut to remain a prescribed length (d) in a diameter direction to form a slant face 131c. The width of the top face 131a is denoted by W and the face 131a is brought into a line contact with a side face of an end 300a of the stock 300. Thus, dispersion of the contact resistance is performed and the contacting part is prevented from overheating by changing the contact length (d) of the electrode member 131-to the stock 300.
