PURPOSE:To freely adjust a magnetic head in its head height by arranging at one end of a carriage guiding shaft an integrated columnar projecting part with its axial center being eccentric with that of the carriage guide shaft and changing the abutting position of the outer peripheral surface of the columnar projection. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 1 is mounted on a carriage 2 which is held slidably the guide shaft 3 having a round cross section and the columnar projecting parts 3a and 3b of the guide shaft 3 at both ends are columns provided to the guide shaft 3 integrally; both axial centers nearly coincide with each other while being eccentric with the shaft center of the guide shaft 3. Bearings 4a-4d are provided on a base 4, the columnar projecting part 3a is abutted and fixed with bearing 4a, the shaft section 3a with bearing 4c, the column projection 3b with bearing 4b and the shaft section 3d with bearing 4d, by using an elastic tension leaf 5. With an outer diameter of the guide shaft 3, outer diameters of the columnar projecting parts 3a and 3b and an eccentric amount of the respective column projections 3a and 3b against the guide shaft 3, a height adjustable range of the guide shaft 3 from the base 4 can be set up freely, thus enabling the head height to be adjusted to an aiming value.
