PURPOSE:To telegraph a thin or thick transmitting original with a simple operation by providing a changing-over means to connect one side of the output of an image pick-up tube and the output of a scanning means to the input of a processing means. CONSTITUTION:A transmitting original 1' is a large picture such as a newspaper or a thin original or a thick original. A unit image pick-up tube 7 is placed on the upper part of the transmitting original 1' and a photoelectric converting processing is executed. An interface circuit 9 is constituted of a switch, a connector, etc., and it is changed over whether it is used as a standard facsimile equipment or an adding device 15 is used. When the adding device 15 is used, the output of the image pick-up tube 7 is fetched through a signal processing circuit 8 and a connecting cable 20 and transmitted through a picture processing circuit 4 and a modulating circuit 5.
