PURPOSE:To execute the smooth scanner action even to a wide variable power by providing a frequency-dividing circuit to frequency-divide a feedback pulse from a servo motor encoder at the servo control device of the motor for driving a copying machine optical scanner. CONSTITUTION:A feedback pulse from an encoder 4 is frequencydivided through a frequency-dividing circuit 5 to a suitable value and fetched into a CPU 8. The CPU 8 obtains the rotational speed of a servo motor 1 by the feedback pulse from the encoder 4, executes the PI operation from the difference between it and the rotational speed which is an target, determines a control quantity and outputs a pulse signal to a PWM driver 2. As other input signals, there are a servo motor rotation direction from a rotation direction detecting circuit 7, speed target correcting data set by a DIP switch 3 and the home position detecting signal of a scanner by a sensor 6.
