Compounds of the formula

wherein Z1 is pyridinyl or imidazolyl, X1 is a bond, C1-4 alkylene, CHOH, CO or (when Z1 is pyridinyl, or heteroatom or methyleneheteroatom bridge), and Q1 helps to form a 5- to 8-membered ring which can carry an oxo or optionally esterified or salsified carboxyl group. These compounds can be thromboxane A2 synthetase inhibitors.
