A flat fuse has a hollow insulating flat housing which has flat channels (which emerge on its lower and upper narrow sides) for accommodating upper sections of contact tongues (which project out of the flat housing at the bottom) and a fuse link channel which is open towards the upper narrow side and connects the flat channels, and in which fuse link channel a fuse link is located which connects the upper sections of the contact tongues. In order that a permanent connection between the contact tongues and the flat housing is ensured, the flat housing has at least one locking device which fixes the upper sections of the contact tongues. The locking device has a stop which limits the insertion movement of a contact tongue into a flat channel, and has a latching element which holds the contact tongue in contact with the stop.
