Foam is produced by adding (1) urethane prepolymers prepd. from (a) polyetherpolyols contg. above 15% ethylene oxide and (b) organic isocyanates to (2) aq. emulsion of asphalt, and foaming the mixt. (2) is prepd. by dispersing asphalt in water with mechanical stirring by the use of cation of anion surfactant in a ratio of water to asphalt of 0.3-2.0 parts wt. to 1 part wt. (1) acts as foaming agent and as filler and binder in asphalt foam. Amt. of (1) added is pref. 5-250 pts. wt. per 100 pts. wt. asphalt emulsion. When (1) and (2) are mixed and stirred, water of (2) reacts with free isocyanate gp. of (1) and forms gaseous CO2, and the mixt. foams. Opt. water, fillers, e.g. Al hydroxide, clay, foam stabilisers e.g. silicone oil (which forms homogeneous cells), pigments, antirust agents, etc. may be added. The asphalt foams have homogeneous stable quality. |
