PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a dimming means and to reduce the size of the unit by allowing a lamp to emit flash light after a time corresponding to a dimming signal and cutting off the latter half of the flash light by a rotary filter. CONSTITUTION:A chrominance signal synchronizing circuit 132 outputs a color synchronizing signal through the rotation of the rotary filter 124 and a delay circuit 150 supplies a delay signal corresponding to the brightness of an object from a monstable multivibrator 160 to a pulse generating circuit 112. The pulse generating circuit 112 turns on the lamp 110 for the flash light emission through a light source turning-on device 118 while the delay signal is generated and starts the light shield period of the rotary filter before the flash light turn-on period ends when the brightness of the object is intermediate or large to cut off the latter half of the light emission, so the quantity of light from the lamp 110 to a light guide 106 is smaller than when the brightness of the object is small.
