PURPOSE:To enhance the optical response rate of an optical sensor and to realize the optical sensor device of simple structure by a method wherein a voltage dividing means is installed in such a way that a switching voltage to be applied to a control electrode of an electricity-discharging transistor is divided and is then applied to an auxiliary electrode. CONSTITUTION:If attention is given to an optical sensor Rs1, a voltage, which is divided between a switching voltage Vg2 to be applied to a TFT Tr1 for electricity-discharging use and a reference voltage VR, is applied to an auxiliary electrode after it has been divided by means of the following: a voltage-dividing capacitor Cx1; a capacitance value Cgs1 which is generated between the auxiliary electrode and one side of a main electrode (the side of a capacitor Cs1) of the optical sensor Rs1; the capacitor Cs1. At the optical sensor Rs1, electrons are attracted by a pulsed voltage which is applied during an electricity- discharging period T13; during this period a big electric current flows and, at the same time, the recoupling of holes is promoted; the previous information on light remaining inside the optical sensor Rs1 is cancelled; the drop in the optical response during a read-out period T11 is improved especially; as a result, the ratio of an output current to the optical intensity can be made bigger.
