PURPOSE:To prevent a magnetic disk from being damaged or deformed by displacing a gimbal within an elastic limit with a spring constant in a rear face direction of a magnetic head mount face. CONSTITUTION:In the head load state where magnetic heads 1, 2 are pressed and in contact with a magnetic disk 7, since a restricting part or a bearing part such as a pivot regulating the vertical displacement to the face of the magnetic disk 7 is not provided to the rear face of the mount face of the gimbals 3, 4 to the magnetic heads 1, 2, the gimbals 3, 4 are deflected by a displacement (x) by an energizing force corresponding to the sum of the self-weight of an arm 6 from the pressing force of the head load spring (now shown). The energizing force F is expressed as F=kx, where (k) is the spring constant of the gimbals 3, 4 and the displacement (x) is zero (x=0) in the unloading state. Since the gimbals 3, 4 are displaced by the spring constant (k) in the direction of the rear side of the magnetic head mount face in this way, the shock of the magnetic disk exerted from the unload state into the headload state is mitigated.
