The invention relates to an air purification method which affords especially pure air in a biological sense. It is intended for use in biocleanrooms and other cleanrooms, as well as for comfort purification problems, e.g. breakdowns in nuclear power plants. In addition to the known particulate filters, chemisorption compositions and the like, the purification method utilises a thermal technique which is due to the fact that air is additionally humidified, condensation takes place and the condensed drops are then removed by special eliminator plates. The air to be purified is initially cooled, then subjected to steam humidification in to the fog region and the condensed particles are then removed both on condensation ice surfaces and by plate elimination. At the same time, the Facy effect is utilised during the condensation on ice surfaces.
