A driven clutch member 30 integral with a starter pinion gear (26, Fig. 1) and having a molded plastics sleeve 55 located therein cooperates with a driving clutch member 20, driven by a power shaft (12), through one-way engageable clutch teeth. An annular thrust washer 54 with an inner conical surface 56 abuts the inclined surfaces 86 of centrifugal flyweights 58, arranged in cavities (55b, Fig. 3) in the molded plastics sleeve 55, which are operative to displace the thrust washer and the member 20 axially to disengage the clutch teeth. The cavities in the sleeve 55 extend radially outwardly and prevent circumferential movement of the flyweights while permitting radial movement. <IMAGE> |
