A toilet flushing cistern having a device for triggering different volumes of flushing water is characterised in that, in the flushing cistern, at least one measured-value sensor is arranged at a level corresponding to a specific water content, in that said measured-value sensor is connected to an electronic device, to which there is also connected at least one manually actuable switch and a device for opening and closing a discharge valve arranged at the base of the flushing cistern. On actuating a switch, the discharge valve is opened and, on reaching the water level assigned to the measured-value sensor, the said valve is closed via the electronic device. The measured-value sensor can, if required, be easily adjusted.
