PURPOSE:To enhance initial image density by treating the surface of a member for triboelectrifying a toner with a mixture of a fine metal oxide powder and a material for electrostatically charging the surfaces of members for triboelectrifying a toner to a polarity reverse to the toner. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic latent image is developed with a triboelectrified insulating toner. The members, such as a sleeve, a doctor blade, and a scraper for removing the developing powder remaining on the sleeve after the development are used for contacting with a developing powder and imparting or auxiliary imparting charge necessary for development to the powder, and the surfaces of the members are treated with the mixture of the material for charging the surfaces of the members to a polarity reverse to the toner, such as metal complex dyes, organic pigments, nigrosine, or quternary ammonium salts, and the fine powder of the metal oxide, such as iron oxide, nickel oxide, or cobalt oxide, thus permitting rising of triboelectrification of the toner in an initial stage to be improved and the initial density to be enhanced without causing to charge up phenomenon under low moist atmosphere. |
