PURPOSE:To facilitate the operation and use of a computer system by providing a knowledge base system having a knowledge base memory means and a reasoning means to solve the problem at the time of the working of an operating system with a knowledge base. CONSTITUTION:The system has a knowledge base sub-system constituted of a knowledge base 3 to store the knowledge including the actual knowledge and know-how acquired based on a long experience by specialists, and a reasoning mechanism 2 to execute and solve the reasoning to derive a new fact from a certain fact while various problems to occur at the time of executing the operating system are in the light of the knowledge base 3 and the rule knowledge and the fact knowledge are applied successively, as a part of an operating system 1. Thus, a system operator and user can use a computer system simply with an intelligent easy-to-use interface.
