For monitoring the failure of a brake circuit of a dual-circuit brake system for motor vehicles, in which a tandem brake master cylinder (1) can be actuated by a brake booster (2) fed from a hydraulic energy supply system (3) and control valves (32 to 35) of a brake slip control device are provided in the brake lines (28, 30) of both brake circuits, a differential pressure switch (49) is connected between the two brake lines (28, 30), which in the event of a fall of the pressure in one brake line (28 or 30) is switched by the pressure in the other brake line (30 or 28) and thereby produces a closure of the control valves (32, 33 or 34, 35), which connect the brake line (28 or 30) in which the pressure has fallen to a group of wheel brake cylinders (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
