PURPOSE:To take over a voice message stored in a mail box as it is even an extension number is revised frequently by assigning a mail box number to each extension telephone number so as to be revised. CONSTITUTION:A mail box number conversion means (CONV) 22 converting an extension telephone number into a mail box number is provided in a private branch of exchange PBX 2. An extension subscriber 200 sends a telephone number of a voice mail MS 3 to the PBX 2 at first. The PBX 2 identifies its extension telephone number from the accommodated position of the extension subscriber 200, converts the extension telephone number into the mail box number according to the conversion table preset to the CONV 22 in the PBX 2, and a command for message extraction and its mail box number are sent from a PBSD 21 to a VMS 3, the VMS 3 extracts the corresponding voice message and returns it to the extension subscriber 200. A console (CNS) 25 is used for the conversion table in the CONV 22, the name and mail box number are registered and the said line is erased when they are not required.
