NETWORK FAULT DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE

PURPOSE:To grasp most important error information properly and to deduce the location of a fault by providing a communication fault detection function deducing a faulty location due to the difference of kinds of replies to a sent data and the return time of the reply and a fault preventing function applying preventive maintenance through said supervision. CONSTITUTION:A diagnostic device 200 is provided to each terminal equipment in a private network. A timer 205 of the device 200 applies time supervision of a reply and a communication fault detection function 211 uses an output of the timer 205 to deduce a faulty location. An error information collecting function 213 receives error information detected by each equipment. The fault function 214 offers the error information stored in the function 213 in the order of priority level to the operator based on the faulty location duduced by the function 211 so as to localize the faulty locations sequentially. An address representing the faulty location deduced as above and a numeral given with the priority level in the order of importance of the error information with respect to the designated deduction are stored in a table of an intelli gent base 215. The fault preventing function 212 collects the return time of the affirma tive reply and stores it as statistic information to prevent a fault in advance. Moreover, an intelligence acquisition/elimination function 216 has only to rewrite the contents of the table thereby correcting the knowledge easily.
