The apparatus, according to the invention, of the generic type serves essentially to achieve preferably more versatile functioning than the known apparatuses. Configuration as a T-form with double, upper cross-bars results in optimum utilisation in static terms. Owing to the arrangement of the lower fastening, a stowage area is obtained which makes it possible for the entire apparatus according to the invention to be accommodated in an extremely constricted area. When not in use, the apparatus itself can be used, for example even in a relatively small room as well as bedsits, for example as a wardrobe. The arrangements of the installed cross-bars and those which project beyond the upright bars results in exercising possibilities, for all ages, which permits considerably more versatile functioning owing to the supplementary units which can be suspended at various heights. <IMAGE>
