Process for producing a surface catalyst structure on support components. The production of surface catalyst structures on support components has hitherto been a complicated process and could not be carried out for large starting sheets. In accordance with the invention it is proposed that the applied powder layers are explosively compacted and at the same time are metallergically bound to the support component, the product subsequently being able to be cold rolled for the purpose of calibration and being able to be sintered or heat treated for the purpose of diffusing the atoms.
