PRODUCTION OF RADICALLY CURABLE COPOLYMER RESIN

PURPOSE:To readily obtain the titled resin outstanding in surface hardness and transparency, by copolymerization between a styrene monomer and glycidyl(meth)acrylate with the former used as the solvent as well as one of the raw materials followed by reaction of the epoxy group in the resulting resin composition with (meth)acrylic acid. CONSTITUTION:A styrene monomer of formula I [X is (alkyl or halogenated) phenyl; R3 is H or CH3] and glycidyl(meth)acrylate are copolymerized to make a resin composition. Thence, such an amount or (meth)acrylic acid as to be virtually equimolar to the epoxy group in said composition is added to this composition to carry out a reaction between the carboxyl group and the epoxy group using the above-mentioned styrene monomer as the solvent as well as one of the raw materials with the proportion of the styrene monomer reacted in said copolymerization regulated to pref. <80% thus obtaining the objective resin with its side chain end carrying (meth)acryloyl group of formula II (m and n are each positive integer).
