PURPOSE:To eliminate a movable part and to prolong a service life by concurrently arranging read sensors so that their scan directions become parallel, and switching and controlling so that the different read sensors can be sequentially connected to a signal processing part everytime the track of electrical signals are outputted. CONSTITUTION:CCD image sensors 2-5 are arranged so that they never relatively move with respect to a bar code. If m-clock pulses P1 are counted to output a carrier signal S6 in an M-notation counter 6 in that state, a selector 12 outputs an active select signal Sa to an analog switch 8 in response to that output, and the switch 8 is turned on. Receiving the carrier signal S6, the CCD image sensor 2 outputs an electrical signal S2 scanning the bar code from an output terminal O. The electrical signal S2 is inputted to a sample hold circuit through the turned-on analog switch 8, and sampled and everytime the clock pulse P1 is inputted. Finally a the track of electrical signals S2 are outputted to a signal processing circuit.
