PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording and reproducing device with resulting high reliability without necessitating the improvement of the finishing accuracy of a parts or adjustment at the time of assembling, by arranging a head pressing spring on the back plane of a head supporting spring with a stopper. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of springs are combined and used in the titled device: the head supporting spring 13 with the stopper and a small spring constant, on whose central part a magnetic head 3 is fixed, and the head pressing spring 15 on whose free terminal pressing pins 17 are implanted. Since the spring constant of the head supporting spring 13 in a direction of Z, and the spring constants in directions of thetaX and thetaY are controlled individually and independently, it is possible to reduce the number of the spring constants of the head supporting sprig 13 in the directions of thetaX and thetaY. In such way, it is possible to keep tight adhesion between a magnetic recording medium 1 and the magnetic head 3 without heightening the finishing accuracy of the parts and applying the adjustment.
