发明名称 OPTICAL FIBER CAPABLE OF EMITTING LIGHT IN TRANSVERSE DIRECTION
摘要 PURPOSE:To widen the light emitting area of an optical fiber and to arrange optical fiber on a plane so as to eliminate the necessity of any deep space, by cutting the end face of the fiber in an oblique direction and providing an uneven surface for refracting and reflecting light on the cut face. CONSTITUTION:The light 6 which enters an optical fiber 1 in the direction shown by the arrows advances through the fiber 1. The light is then bent at the uneven surface 3 of a notched section 2 and projected from the fiber 1 in the transverse direction. If the notched section is made to have an elongated area, therefore, the light emitting surface of this optical fiber 1 becomes larger and a larger quantity of light can be seen. When the uneven surface is worked to have a striped pattern in case of making the surface rougher and to make diffused reflection as frosted glass does in case of making the surface finer, a more effective result can be obtained. When an optical fiber is worked in such a way, its light emitting area can be made larger and easily seeable and, at the same time, no deep space is required because the optical fiber can be put in a plane without bending it.
