<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a high-density recording medium having excellent thermal stability and high reliability by providing a magnetic layer for which a vinyl chloride resin having an epoxy group and quaternary ammonium salt is used as a binder. CONSTITUTION:The vinyl chloride resin having the epoxy group and quaternary ammonium salt is obtd. by copolymerizing vinyl chloride, radical polymerizable monomer having an epoxy group copolymerizable with the vinyl chloride, radical polymerizable monomer having the quaternary ammonium salt copolymerizable with the vinyl chloride and if necessary, monomer copolymerizable with said monomers in the presence of a radical generating agent. This vinyl chloride resin, magnetic powder and desired components are adequately mixed by which a magnetic coating compd. as an org. solvent dispersion is obtd. Said coating compd. is coated on a base and is dried to form the magnetic layer. Then, the hydrogen chloride generated by the thermal decomposition of the vinyl chloride resin is captured by the epoxy group in the molecular chain by which the chain reaction of the decomposition is prevented and the magnetic recording medium having the excellent thermal stability, dispersibility and durability is obtd.</p> |
