PURPOSE:To smooth frequency characteristics and to expand band width by using simple constitution connecting an inductance element in parallel with a piezo-electric element. CONSTITUTION:The piezo-electric element 11 consisting of lead zirconate and lead titanate or the like is connected between electrodes 12, 13 and coils 14 are connected in parallel between the electrodes 12, 13. The electrode 13 is brought into direct contact with a metal serving as a substance 15 to be measured and the coils 14 are connected between the electrode 12 and the substance 15. When transmitting and receiving converters 21, 22 are used for the ultrasonic sensor, the smoothness of frequency characteristics can be improved and its band width can be expanded. Consequently, the frequency of ultrasonic waves transmitted into a measured substance 23 such as metal or ceramic whose measurement is ordinarily difficult can be easily analyzed and ultrasonic flaw detection can be attained.
