PURPOSE:To aim at a compact size for the transmission in the caption by connecting an input shaft coupled to an engine to the central portion of a cylinder block and providing an output cylindrical shaft coupled to a load round the outer circumference of said input shaft rotatably in relation thereto, and by having the swash plate of a pump held by a stationary machine frame and the swash plate of a motor held by the output cylindrical shaft. CONSTITUTION:A pump cylinder 7 and a motor cylinder 17 are integrally connected to each other to construct a cylinder block. An input shaft 2 coupled to an engine is connected to the central portion of a cylinder block and an output cylindrical shaft 25 coupled to a load is connected to the outer circumference of said input shaft 2 rotatably in relation thereto. The swash plate 10 of a pump is held by stationary machine frame C and the swash plate 20 of a motor is held by the output cylindrical shaft 25. Thereby, an input shaft can be arranged in the central portion of the cylindrical block and the output cylindrical shaft can be arranged round its outer circumference so that it may be possible to aim at a compact size for the transmission in the caption.
